Azure PAM backups not working after upgrade. GuestAgentSnapshotTaskStatusError

Issue/Introduction

Upgrading Azure PAM stops snapshots/backups from working.  Getting error:

Error:  Could not communicate with the VM agent for snapshot status.

 

Cause

A configuration file (/etc/waagent.conf) controls the actions of waagent. 

/etc/waagent.conf they were set to:

Extensions.Enable=n

Provisioning.Agent=disabled

Resolution

If you require Azure backups to work, contact PAM Support.
