Spectrum fails to start with error can't connect to process daemon.

Issue/Introduction

Following the reboot of the linux Spectrum server, Spectrum failed to start with the following errors:

[user@xxxxxx bin]$ ./startSS.pl
Process Daemon disconnected: Can't connect to process daemon.

The process daemon may not be started, or 'localhost' not configured correctly.
[user@xxxxxx bin]$

 

Environment

Release : 10.4.x, 22.1.x, 22.2.x 23.3.x

Component : Spectrum Core / SpectroSERVER

Cause

processd was down. It did not automatically start at reboot. 

Resolution

1.  Manually start processd (systemcltl start processd) and then Spectrum. 

2.  If the issue persists make sure DNS is set up correctly (FQDN, short name and reverse lookup are all working).
