How to Export NCM configuration information that Spectrum collects

Network configuration backup export on centralized location instead local spectro server

We have a query regarding network config backup. Can we export the NCM config backup to centralized location instead of local SS server.

Environment

All supported Network Observability DX NetOps Spectrum OneClick releases

Cause

Need configuration backups available to user with access to a different server than the SpectroSERVER SS system.

 

Resolution

The Spectrum Network Configuration Manager (NCM) config for where the backups are stored is done at the Network Configuration Manager level. It's seen on it's Information tab at the bottom in the 'Export Configuration' section.

The options in that area are documented in the Network Configuration Manager Configurations section. The Export Configuration info is near the bottom of the page.

Notes and Tips

• You can only set a location that is known to the SS system.
• We recommend resolving the use of an NFS or any other file share with the necessary access available to both the SS and remote host users access.
  • Set it up so the SS and the remote server both have access to it.
  • Ensure the SS has read/write access.
  • Set the shared location from the SS as the Export Directory in the Export Configuration for NCM.
• The default configuration is “Do Not Export”. The other options available are:
  • Export Unique Configurations Only
  • Export device configurations only if they differ from previously captured configurations.
  • Export Unique and Global Sync Configurations
  • Export device configurations only if they differ from previously captured configurations or on a global synchronization.
