Issue/Introduction

When you click on “Browse Resources” from within Microsoft Project (MSP), you get a Target Error referencing:

Error: The macro "BrowseResources" cannot be found.

Environment

Release : All

Component : Clarity Microsoft Project (MSP) Interface

Cause

This can be due to the Browse Resources macro being removed by an Administrator. (Example, the macro was changed from public to private).

To verify if this is the cause:

  1. In MSP, go to View->Macros->View Macros.
  2. Check for BrowseResources. If it is not displayed, then this indicates its either been edited to be hidden from the macro list, or was removed.
  3. If it does display, click Edit for BrowseResoures and check if there is text there. If it is blank, that is another indicator there is a problem with the macro that requires a reinstall of the addin.

Resolution

Step 1: Uninstall the add-in

From Control Panel -> Programs and Features, uninstall the CA Clarity Addin component

Step 2: Clean out Visual Basic

Note: You may not find anything to delete/clear if everything was successfully removed via the step above

  1. In MSP, go to View > Macros > Visual Basic
  2. Expand ProjectGlobal then Expand Modules
  3. Delete the modules that start with either CA_ and Niku_
  4. Expand Microsoft Project Objects, Double-click on Thisproject
  5. Select everything in the right panel and delete it
  6. Save and exit Visual Basic

Step 3: Reinstall the Addin

  1. Navigate to the following folder directory: CA\Clarity\CA PPM MSPInterface\addin
  2. Double click setup.exe to run through the install process for the Addin
