Jasper Report server starts fine but shuts down for no reason after 5-10 minutes

Issue/Introduction

Jasper server is installed on a separate windows server 2016 from the Governance server. I can start it using the startup.bat command and successfully connect but it appears to shut down shortly after I close the startup.bat DOS window or log after the machine

Do not use startup.bat.  Use JasperServer Windows service (if installed as a service) or the startservers,bat from the Jasper install directory.  startserver.bat will properly start Jasper server.
