Our environment requires Linux users to be managed by the Active Directory configuration.

As a result there is no user entry in /etc/passwd for these users.

When installing Vertica it reports failure to find the already created dradmin user due to no entry in the /etc/passwd file where Vertica looks.

The dradmin user is a non-local user without an entry in the /etc/passwd file.

Vertica install requires the ability to find the dradmin user in the /etc/passwd file to validate the users existence.

Non-local users are acceptable.

To work around the problem manually add the dradmin user to the /etc/passwd file.

Run the install/upgrade and when completed remove the dradmin users entry from the /etc/passwd file.
