Resolution

Broadcom has made a strategic decision to End Of Support CA Mobile OTP App. There will be no support or update to the app beyond 31 Mar 2022. All the existing customers using CA Mobile OTP App are being advised to plan to migrate to CA Authenticator App.

Symantec Advanced Authentication product comes with two mobile Apps
1. CA Mobile OTP App, which provides OTP functionality.
2. CA Authenticator App, which combines both OTP and PUSH functionality.

Which means that CA Authenticator App combines the functionality of both CA Mobile OTP App and additionally PUSH notification.

The migration steps are simple and you can read here.

Migrating to CA Mobile Authenticator app

The CA Mobile Authenticator app replaces the CA Mobile OTP app. The CA Mobile Authenticator app provides the same extra layer of security as the OTP app, but includes more functionality and security features. Have your users complete the following steps to migrate from the CA Mobile OTP app to the CA Mobile Authenticator app.

Note: If you have implemented your own version of the CA Mobile Authenticator app using the Mobile Authenticator SDK, the migration steps are the same. However, point the user to your app download location.

Download the CA Mobile Authenticator app from the Google Play Store (Android) or Apple Store (iOS).

  • Open the CA Mobile Authenticator app. The app automatically detects your existing CA Mobile OTP app and migrates your user data.
  • Once the migration is complete, the CA Mobile OTP app works only in read-only mode. Perform all authentication requests (push or OTP) through the CA Mobile Authenticator app.
  • Optionally, delete the CA Mobile OTP app.
