Change ownership for the /opt/CA/IMDataRepository_vertica<version> directory and contents?

Issue/Introduction

Can I change the owner of /opt/CA/IMDataRepository_vertica9 to another user like the dradmin user?

We don’t have root access to the environment.

All supported DX NetOps Performance Management releases

Cause

Not able to obtain the necessary root user access detailed in the documentation.

Resolution

For an existing installation it is acceptable to modify the ownership for the /opt/CA/IMDataRepository_vertica* directory and all files underneath it. If owned by root but no longer allowed root access, change them to a preferred user.

Recommendation is to use a new sudo-root user that will also be used for future upgrades to Vertica.

When upgrading Vertica that is already installed as root, simply extract the new upgrade installDR.bin file using the new non-root user.

Once the directory and its contents are owned by the correct non-root user use that same user for all upgrade tasks that call for root user activity.
