During the operation of the CA Datacom Multi-User Facility (MUF), and sometimes in other applications that communicate with it, the message identifier or message-ID is very long with multiple components. Is there any way to change this message-ID to be more easily read by operations staff or by automated operation programs?
The format of the message-ID issued by the Datacom Multi-User Facility (MUF) is designed to be flexible for the needs of the customer. Along with the actual message number, three other fields can be displayed: the Jobname/STC name, the SVC number (always “000” – maintained for automated operations systems that used this message format for prior Datacom releases) and the MUFname (z/OS) or the SUBID (z/VSE). The displaying of one or more of these fields is controlled through the MUF Startup Option MUFMSG.
There are three parameters on this option, separated by commas. Each parameter has the value YES or NO, to control the display of each of the fields. The default values for the product as shipped are NO,NO,YES to display only the MUFname.
