You want to change the permissions and ownership for files that are set during the Symantec Protection Engine (SPE) installation.

Resolution

Broadcom does not recommend changing the permissions and ownership on files that are set during the installation process. Changing permissions, ownership, or removing users that are created during install may cause unexpected instability and may cause SPE, in part or in whole, to break.
