Firm copy fails (missing firm.exe) on GSS 3.3 RU4 - RU8

Issue/Introduction

The customer noticed when a configure task is run from WinPE, it should copy the aclient.cfg file to the root of the clients hard drive and run the configuration steps upon reboot but it is not happening. This currently fails because firm.exe was apparently deprecated (no longer exists in the rdeploy folder).

The customer mitigated this issue by copying the previous version of firm.exe from the last build of DS 6.9.

Environment

GSS 3.3 RU4 and later (up to 3.3 RU8)

Cause

Known issue. In a server that has GSS 3.2 RU6 installed and then upgraded to GSS 3.3 RU3, firm.exe exists.

 

Clean installation of GSS releases seem like starting from GSS 3.3 RU4, firm.exe was removed but exists in GSS 3.3 RU3 release
GSS 3.3 RU5 - no firm.exe
GSS 3.3 RU4 - no firm.exe
GSS 3.3 RU3 - firm.exe exists

Resolution

This issue has been reported to the Broadcom Development team. A fix for this has been added to the GSS 3.3 RU9 release.
