CA Service Desk Manager CA Service Management - Service Desk Manager

Issue/Introduction

Attempting my first upgrade from 17.1 to 17.3.

During the upgrade, I'm asked to provide the "Provider Process Path" for Process Automation.

What is this setting?  the default from the installation setup.exe is "/".

Environment

Release :  17.1 and higher

Component : CA Service Management

Resolution

the "Provider Process Path" option is defined in our documentation, link below:

https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/business-management/ca-service-management/17-3/administering/administering-ca-asset-portfolio-management/managing-product-components.html

The "Provider Process Path" option is the path that defines the location of the start request forms for the given workflow provider.  During the installation, you will be prompted for the Provider Process Path for all of Service Management as accessed by Service Desk, Catalog, and ITAM.  If one examines an SDM Change Order workflow definition, the given path is specific to that particular Change Order Workflow.

While the default in the SM Installation for the upgrade should be "/", you can also view the current configuration on your 17.1 instance by querying the  al_cdb_configurationparameters table and view the setting stored under field "configvalue", ie:

SELECT configkey, configvalue
  FROM [mdb].[dbo].[al_cdb_configurationparameters]
  where configkey = 'pam.process.path'
