Network access via SonicWall Connect Tunnel VPN is blocked by Endpoint Protection firewall

Issue/Introduction

The Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) firewall blocks network connections through the SonicWall Connect Tunnel VPN and the internet/network cannot be browsed while connected to the VPN. Creating firewall rules has not resolved the issue.

Cause

The SEP client is unable to parse the raw IP frames from the SonicWall Connect Tunnel VPN

Environment

SEP 14 RU1 MP2 through 14.3 RU2

Resolution

This issue is resolved in the SEP 14.3 RU3 client which allows the firewall to parse this traffic and match on the configured firewall rules to properly allow or deny this traffic.
