Issue/Introduction

The GSO PSWD has PSWDFRC|NOPSWDFRC set to PSWDFRC which specifies whether a user is forced to change the password at the next logon whenever someone other than the user, such as a security administrator or account manager, changes the password. Can the PSWDFRC be overridden when a SECURITY or ACCOUNT manager changes a user's PASSWORD?

Resolution

Yes, if a SECURITY or ACCOUNT manager changes a user's PASSWORD and also specifies NOPSWD-EXP the user will not be forced to change the password at the next logon even if the GSO PSWD PSWDFRC is set. For example:

CHANGE user001 PASSWORD(newpass) NOPSWD-EXP
