Issue/Introduction

The customer is trying to add a new package (under Manage>Software Catalog>Add Software>Import Package. When this page opened, the following error appeared:

"The specified software library directory does not exist. Verify the path on the Software Library Configuration page."

However, there is a share reference configured under the "Software Library Configuration" page but it is not valid.

Environment

ITMS 8.1, 8.5, 8.6

Cause

The referenced share was invalid. It is no longer was accessible.

Resolution

Try the following:

  1. Under "Settings>Notification Server>Software Library Configuration", verify that you can actually access the referenced share.  Try to copy the share path and open it under File Explorer.
  2. If the path fails to open, verify that this is a valid share. You can go under "Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Shared Folders>Shares" and see if your share is listed here.
  3. If the share is listed but you can't still open it, go ahead and remove the share and create it again. Make sure your AppID account has Read/Write rights to the share.
  4. After the share has been recreated, go ahead and under Software Library Configuration click on "Validate" and see if it now is able to access the share.
  5. Save the changes.

Now you should be able to add a new package to your Software Catalog.
