To add a cluster member, login to the Encryption Management Server administration console, navigate to System / Clustering, click on the Add button and enter the FQDN of the cluster member you wish to add.

Sometimes, when trying to add a cluster member, the cluster member you added does not appear in the list of cluster members.

Nothing appears in the log files under Reporting / Logs.

Symantec Encryption Management Server release 10.5 MP2 and below.

Upgrade to release 10.5 MP3 or above. Starting in release 10.5 MP3, a warning message appears on the System / Clustering page of the administration console if there is insufficient disk space:

In addition, a warning appears in the administration console under Reporting / Logs / Cluster:

RepStatus.add: Insufficient space on disk. Aborting add.

When you click the Add button, Encryption Management Server checks whether there is sufficient free disk space on the sponsor.

By default, in order to add a cluster member, the sponsor server requires free disk space of three times the size of the database.

To check whether you have sufficient space, you can do the following:

  1. SSH to the server.
  2. Check the size of the database:
    du -h /var/lib/pgsql/10 |grep data |tail -1
  3. Check the available disk space on the / partition:
    df -h |grep 'Avail\|/$'

If the size of the database is more than three times the size of the available disk space, you will not be able to add a cluster member. Please open a technical support case for assistance with freeing up disk space.
