We recently had a View issue where the following message was received during the backup phase of the product:
ECTMS3 F905,N48463,IS NOT SCRTCH (02)
We normally do not cut a new tape each night, so this seems odd.
To get around this, we started the SARSTC task with OPT=NEW.
Any ideas as to how this could have happened?
Release : 14.0
Component : CA View
The client discovered that View tapes were placed under External Data Managers (EDM) control the previous weekend.
This is what caused the issue of a tape not being recognized as a regular View tape, and not being able to have multiple backups written to it.
To alleviate the condition, the client temporarily added OPT=NEW to their SARSTC task, so that a new tape was forced at the next backup.
The client removed the SARSTC output tapes from EDM, and the next View tape was able to have multiple backups written to it.
