Issue/Introduction

Why is only 1 TCP4M08044 job running after the upgrade to CA XCOM 11.0 SP01 for i5/OS (AS/400)?

Environment

Release: CA XCOM Data Transport for AS/400 IBM i, iSeries
Component: xcas4r

Resolution

The architecture for XCOM for i5/OS changed at r11 SP1, and you will now see as few as 1 or as many as 4 Principal TCPIP jobs running. Only the Principal TCPIP job now runs for each Listener. Individual jobs (Agents) are no longer brought up when XCOM is brought up. They are created as needed for each transfer and ended when the transfer ends - resembling the architecture on the other XCOM platforms. You can now have from 1 to 4 listeners running when you bring up XCOM.

The CA XCOM Data Transport for AS/400 i5/OS Release Summary r11 SP01  in section Remote TCP/IP Transfers explains that SP01 has just 1 Principal job per listener which runs continuously. There may be several Principal jobs running for the various listeners (Agents) now available:

  • IPv4
  • Secure socket IPv4
  • IPv6
  • Secure socket IPv6
