Issue/Introduction

Bootwiz continuously runs on the NBS server after rebuilding PXE config.

The bootwiz.log from the same NBS server shows repeated errors similar to the following:

Cause

In at least one case, the AppID service account didn't have rights on C:\Windows\Temp or the same directory was completely full

Resolution

On the NBS server:

  • Stop the NBS/PXE services
  • End the bootwiz process in Windows Task Manager if still running
  • Delete (or backup and then delete) the contents of the C:\Windows\Temp

If Windows errors are noticed, resolve any environmental issues that might be preventing deletion of these files. The NBS/PXE services may need to be stopped prior to this step. Then do the following:

  • Start the NBS/PXE services
  • Rebuild the PXE config from the SMP Console or then NBS server agent
