D003 program check in ADSOMAIN when an ADS TCP/IP listener dialog abends

Issue/Introduction

If an ADS TCP/IP listener dialog abends for any reason, it is possible that ADSOMAIN will encounter a valid protection exception and then a D003 (S0C4).

Environment

Release: All supported releases.
Component: ADS.

Cause

If an ADS TCP/IP listener dialog abends for any reason, it will attempt to place the abend message in SYSTCE storage. If HPSPO is in effect, and ADSOMAIN has the PROTECT option set on, then this is a valid protection exception and the task will get a S0C4 and abend with a D003 abend code.

Resolution

The only solutions to this situation are to disable the HPSPO option or define ADSOMAIN as NOPROTECT.
