Issue/Introduction

Customers inquire  if any impact on complete migration from IPv4 addressing to IPv6 addressing, essentially IPv4 addressing be removed.

1. Does Broadcom AA support  IPv6 addressing ?
2. Can IPv4 addressing usage be totally dropped by customers?

Environment

Release : All AA Releases.

Cause

Customers wanting to move to IPv6 addressing and remove IPv4 addressing.

Resolution

IPv6 not supported by AA and no plans to support the same as yet. Hence IPv4 dependency will remain.

Additional Information

IP based Risk  Rules like ZoneHopping rule, and TrustedIP rule will not trigger if IPV6 addresses are used for Risk Evaluation.  This is because the IP data (provided to AA by a third party called Neustar)  that is used for Risk Evaluation support IPV4 based addressing only. So, Risk Evaluation processing will be unreliable/incorrect if IPv6 addresses are used because of this lack of support for IPV6 addresses.
