Issue/Introduction

Upgrading from CA Process Automation 4.2 SP02 to CA Process Automation 4.3 SP05.  We are looking to see if there are any details on the upgrade such as gotchas that can happen.

Environment

Release : 4.2

Component : Process Automation

Resolution

Some things to keep in mind:

  • EEM upgrade is a separate step and is not included in the instructions for upgrading ITPAM.  Here’s the link where you can read more about the EEM upgrade:  https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/other/Embedded-Entitlements-Manager/12-6/upgrading.html
  • Make sure to backup everything before upgrading.  If you’re installed on a Windows system, a Windows Restore Point before upgrading is an excellent idea.  If you’re installed on a Virtual Machine, a snapshot of the image would also be an excellent idea.  If EEM is on a separate server, the same rule applies for EEM.
  • Be sure to read the release notes, getting started guide, and upgrade guide carefully
