082D in TPX after an appl(Natural) condition, and CICS hangs.

Issue/Introduction

 

When having a CICS session that uses a Natural database, everything would work smoothly except when the user tries to do a search for entries.

Application then tries to show the search results in real time, trying to update the search progress on the screen - almost like a progress bar.

This causes a Natural abend within CICS.

Environment

Release : 5.4

Component : CA-TPX for Z/OS

Cause

Natural sends many screens without any break causing TPX to run into overrun condition and issuing the 082D and the following Natural abend within CICS:

DFHZC3413 E 03/08/2021 12:12:59 CICSTEST 5001 N827 Logical Unit busy.  SENSE CODE 082D 0000 ((1) Module name: DFHZNAC)

DFHZC3408 E 03/08/2021 12:12:59 CICSTEST 5001 N827 Presentation space integrity lost.  SENSE CODE 082B 0000 ((1) Module name:

And user gets this error on the screen:   

“NT08 - Terminal write error: FC=0404,  RSP=81, RSP2=  0,  TERMERR”

Resolution

This is not a TPX issue.

The recommendation is to contact Natural vendor (SAG), and explain the issue. They are aware of the problem and have created a test fix in the past.
