The department cannot be changed to a different entity after financial plans have been created

Issue/Introduction

When I change the % Complete Calculation Method from Duration to Manual, the error message below shows up. Why?
The department cannot be changed to a different entity after financial plans have been created:

 

 

Cause

The % Complete field is placed at the same subpage as the Financial Department and Location.

Both the Financial Department and Location are blank and the project contains financial plans.

When updating the % Complete field, the whole page is being saved up and by definition, when financial plans exist, the Financial Department and Location can not be blank

Resolution

Solution 1:

Update the Financial Department and Location. 

Then update the % Complete Calculation Method

Solution 2:

Pull the % Complete Calculation Method to the Project List view and update the value there

Additional Information

Once Financial Plans exist, the Financial Department/Location combination can only be changed to a Financial Department/Location of the same entity

The above error will appear if:

You try to blank the Financial Department/Locations

You try to update the Financial Department/Location combination to a Financial Department/Location of a different entity
