Issue/Introduction

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create a Business Rule on a Project Blueprint, setting a field as always required. Example, Approver (Lookup from Resource Browse).
  2. Create Project using New from Template button.
  3. In the Projects Grid view, add the Approver column.
  4. Click the plus sign to create a new project, select the Project Blueprint with the rule and fill in required fields, except leave the Approver field blank

Expected Results:

  1. New from Template, the Approver field is added and required to create the project.
  2. New from Projects Grid view plus sign, a runtime error requesting them to add the values will be displayed, since Clarity checks both Classic PPM and Business rules before showing you the runtime error messages.

Actual Results:

  1. New from Template, the Approver field is added and required to create the project.
  2. New from Projects Grid view plus sign, NO runtime error requesting them to add the values will be displayed.

Environment

Release : 15.9.3

Component : Clarity MUX Blueprints and Administration

Resolution

This is working as designed in this release.

The Blueprint Rule to make a field 'required' upon creation of the project can only be enforced when the user is creating the project from a Template.

When creating a project from the Grid, there is no enforcement of the blueprint rule.

To force the users to only use the templates for creating projects, the customer can now use the 'create from template' right ONLY - that does not allow them to create a project from 'scratch' or from the grid.
This is documented online here:

https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/business-management/clarity-project-and-portfolio-management-ppm-on-premise/15-9-3/using/Getting-Started-with-Clarity-Administration/Getting-Started-with-Blueprints/new-user-experience-configure-blueprints-for-projects-and-investments.html#concept.dita_5b75b52733cd7a6b8faff84630be86de3f4773ef_EnforceR

Users will NOT get a runtime error if you create the project through the Grid for the fields in the blueprint rule... we will clarify the correct behavior on the documentation.
