Issue/Introduction

After running "smc -cloudmanaged <path\to\Symantec_Agent_Setup.exe>" the endpoint loses network connectivity.

Resolution

Our Engineering team is investigating this issue and will update this document when a solution becomes available. 

 

To work around this issue please do the following:

  1. If the issue is presently affecting an endpoint:
    1. Open cmd.exe as admin
    2. Run the following command: start smc -sepmmanaged

  2. To prevent the migration issue, before migrating:
    1. Make a Tamper Protection exception for cmd.exe via the SEPM
    2. Update the policy on the endpoint
    3. Open cmd.exe as admin
    4. Run the following command: copy "C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\CurrentVersion\Data\Cached Installs\CommonAppData\Symc\Name\Version\Data\Config\serdef.dat" "C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\CurrentVersion\Data\Cached Installs"
    5. Migrate the endpoint
