Jaspersoft report excel spreadsheet has merged cells for some columns

When exporting or scheduling report output to non-paginated excel spreadsheet, some columns have merged cells.  How do we get rid of merged cells so that users can sort the rows without fixing the merged cells format manually?

When a Jaspersoft report is exported it has to position all content in a column.  To reflect the pixel-perfect design the exporter merges cells.
To avoid this, make sure all cells line up vertically, both in the title, header section, detail section, and footers. Any unaligned field/component
will cause a merged cell to be created.  In addition, all fields must have the same width as other fields in that vertical collection.


Please, try to follow these guidelines in order to avoid merging of cells.
