Patch Management Solution

Is there a way to manually start a single update that is scheduled in the Software Update tab of the Altiris Agent?  The start updates installation link starts all the currently scheduled updates, and that is not what we are trying to do.

Release : 8.x

There is a utility called AeXPatchUtil.exe which is installed on every computer that has the software update agent (Patch Management Agent).  It's located under C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\PatchMgmtAgent.  You can see the accepted switches by running AeXPatchUtil.exe /?.

If you use the /F switch, with the GUID of an update, it will install just that one.

How do you get the GUID you will ask?

From the software update distribution policy, click the update name:

Once opened, click properties where shown in the following screenshot.  Click the computer screen down arrow next to the name to get the drop-down menu and select Properties.

You will now see Guid.  Copy that and the command line, using the example from the screenshot:  AeXPatchUtil.exe /f {e26c5d39-baed-486c-9ebf-67f21e352950}
