Error 1067: 'Process unexpectedly Terminated' when starting BCCA service

Issue/Introduction

The BCCA Service is not running and when attempting to start, the following error is encountered:


Windows could not start the Auth Connector Service service on Local Computer. "System Error 1067, Process unexpectedly Terminated"

 

Environment

  • Windows Server
  • Cloud SWG Auth Connector (BCCA)

Cause

The error code 1067 is caused by a Windows system malfunction.  The error occurs mainly due to faulty services, or corrupted settings of that particular service.

Resolution

To resolve this:

  • Backup the .ini configuration files under C:\Program Files (x86)\Blue Coat Systems\BCCA
  • Uninstall The Auth Connector using Control Panel > Program and Features > Add or remove programs
  • Reboot the server
  • Install the Auth Connector. See Deploy the Cloud SWG Auth Connector

Note: Re-install the Auth Connector will force the refresh of the corrupted service or settings.

If you run into this issue again. It is recommended to check the Windows event logs for more information on the probable cause of the error.

On the Server running the Auth Connector.

  1. Right-click Start
  2. Select Event Viewer
  3. Expand Windows logs at the left and select Application.
  4. You may right-click on Application and System and select "Saveā€¦" to get evtx file. Do not use any filtering, informational events may be meaningful too.

It is also recommended to capture and log events for the Cloud SWG Auth Connector.
