Issue/Introduction

Post migration of Continuous Delivery Director(CDD) to a new server and changing configuration to let CDD point to old DB, it was noticed that re-registration of plugins fails with below error.

PKIX path building failed: unable to find valid certification path to requested target

Cause

The error indicates that CDD is not able to resolve a valid certificate required to communicate with plugin hosting server(Tomcat).

Environment

Release : 8.x

Component : Continuous Delivery Director(CONTINUOUS DLVRY DIRCTR)

Sub-Component: RACDEA : CDD ADMINISTRATION

Resolution

Follow steps below to resolve the issue

  • Get a valid certificate for the server/Tomcat hosting plugins
  • Import the certificate into cacerts of the JAVA used by Tomcat hosting CDD Plugins
keytool -import -noprompt -trustcacerts -alias <AliasName> -file <certificate> -keystore "$JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/security/cacerts" -storepass <Password>
  • Restart the Tomcat service hosting CDD and validate re-registering of plugins.
