Issue/Introduction

Vertica shutdown unexpectedly. The log file terminates with a set of nul characters.

Resolution

Check the /var/log/messages file around the noted time to verify if the server may have been rebooted around the time of the issue.

You may be able to see the reboot history using the last command:

last
