XCOM Data Transport - Windows XCOM Data Transport

Issue/Introduction

A new XCOM Gateway was installed on a Windows server and it is accessing the same Gateway database being used by their production Gateway. The installation and startup of the Gateway on the new server was successful.

When the administrator goes to the Administration tab and then to the Manage Server tab, message "XCOM23402E Error occurred while getting servers" is received.

Environment

Release : 12.0

Component : CA XCOM DATA TRANSPORT GATEWAY FOR WINDOWS

Cause

The cause of the problem is due to having multiple Gateway servers accessing the same database.

Resolution

The installation of the Gateway stores some values in the database that are encrypted using certificates that are stored in the Keystore native to the Gateway server. So, when another server tries to decrypt the values, it fails as they were originally encrypted using certificates from another server.

You can do the following:

1. The preferable recommendation is to use the Backup and Restore option to backup the metadata from the first(original) server and restore it on the new server.

2. Copy the keystore from the original server to the new server.

Additional Information

Copying the Keystore may resolve the problem as mentioned, but be aware that you may run into additional problems if you are using Directory Watcher or Onward Delivery features of XCOM Gateway.

The best recommendation is to have a separate database for each Gateway and to use  the Backup and Restore option to replicate the configuration.
