Issue/Introduction

Control Compliance Suite (CCS)

If a separate Data collection job and then an Evaluation job is run, and the last data collection job failed, will the Evaluation job fail or will it use the data collected from the last successful data collection job, even is that was 6 months ago?

Environment

Release : 12.6.x

Component: CCS data collection and Evaluation

Resolution

It depends on a couple of factors.

  • If the setting 'Use latest data collection results for evaluation' is unchecked (disabled) in the Settings -> Application Settings -> Standards tab, then both CER (Collection-Evaluation-Reporting) job and just a normal Evaluation job will use the last data that was collected for that asset, even if the data is from 6 months ago.

  • If the setting 'Use latest data collection results for evaluation' is checked (enabled) and you run a separate Data Collection job and then an Evaluation job, the Evaluation job will use the most recent data collected from that agent, even if that data is 6 months old and data collection has been failing for that asset ever since.

  • If the setting 'Use latest data collection results for evaluation' is checked (enabled) and you run a Collection-Evaluation-Reporting (CER) job, then only the data collection from that CER job run is used.  If the data collection portion of the CER job failed, then the asset would still show up in the Evaluation Report with a 0 score.  If you run a CER job and the data collection fails, then that asset will not show up in the Evaluation report.
