net_connect probe still alerting on old profiles which are no longer present in .cfg file

Issue/Introduction

in the net_connect probe we removed a few devices but we are still getting alarms for the removed hosts.  We verified in the  .cfg file that the profiles were removed, and even if we deactivate the net_connect probe, the alarms keep coming.

Cause

In rare circumstances, a probe restart can fail and cause a "double launch" of the process.  We have not identified what might cause this but it appears to be extremely uncommon.

Resolution

- stop the robot service

- check using e.g. Task Manager (windows) or "ps -ef" (Linux) to see if any net_connect process is still running ("net_connect.exe" on Windows or "nimbus(net_connect)" on Linux/UNIX)

- if so, kill that process

- restart the robot
