Issue/Introduction

Recently implemented the zevent probe to send alerts/messages from mainframe to UIM application.

OPS/MVS is the data producer and CCS Message Service (MS) is responsible for forwarding the data to UIM.

The alerts/messages are successfully being sent to UIM, however they show times that are four hours off.

How do we resolve this?

UIM - Unified Infrastructure Manager

Resolution

This is working as designed.

The original design for the OPS interface to UIM specifies that timestamps would be presented in ISO-8601 format.  This format was specifically requested by the UIM team.

OPS explicitly converts local time to UTC to satisfy the design spec. Thus it is the responsibility of the data producer (OPS) and data forwarder (MS) to ensure that the dates do not get randomly "mangled" along the path by environmental settings that are hard to control.

The time shown in the "Created" field represents the time (local timezone) that that alert come into UIM.

The time shown in the "Alarm Message" filed represents the time the message occurred in UTC time.
