Issue/Introduction

Noticing High CPU utilization 99-100% on Clarity, how to determine what is the cause of this?

Resolution

There is no way to determine what caused the problem in the past. If this happens again:

  • Note which node has the problem
  • Connect to it, note the CPU/RAM taken
  • Check which process takes high CPU - app, bg or other
  • Collect app-ca and app-system for app and bg-ca bg-system for bg (depending on affected service)
  • If app/bg, collect the heap dump on the affected service as per: Manual heap dump for application hanging or slow performance
  • Also collect thread dumps on the affected service as per Troubleshooting Clarity with thread dumps
  • Provide the heap dump, logs and thread dumps to Broadcom Support for review.
  • Note any unusual activity happening at this time as well such as large imports, data extracts etc. and provide this information as well
