Issue/Introduction

Other than running SMP/E reports against the CSI or producing hex dumps of a module, is there a quick alternative method to check the maintenance level of a particular Datacom load module?

Resolution

Starting with Datacom/DB Version 12.0, each PTF, or APAR, is a load module replacement and includes the RMID value. To quickly determine the level of the module, browse the load module and find "RMID(".

For a base level module with no maintenance applied, the value will be "RMID(RESERVE)".

As maintenance is applied, the RMID value with show the current level "RMID(xxnnnnn)" where:

      • "xx" is the prefix for either a published solution "LU"  or a test fix "LT" that has not yet been published;
      • "nnnnn" is the fix number.

Additional Information

Each PTF or APAR is a load module replacement that supersedes (SMP/E SUP) the cumulative fixes included. It is possible that the RMID(xxnnnnn) number "nnnnn" will not always increase, so a higher RMID number does not always imply a higher level of maintenance.
