Hello, I'm upgrading a Datacom 14.0 MUF (for CA11) to 15.1
I'd like to rename the datasets and change the MUF name to make it only 7 characters as recommended. I've found several articles on the rename, not sure which is the best method.
Release : 15.1
Component : CA Datacom/AD
The easiest route to follow here is to install your Version 15.1 system as a new MUF, which means you will create all new files for the MUF - the system databases, operational files like the CXX, LXX, etc., and the control files like the CUS* files and the new INSTJCL. This will allow you to create the files and the internal control blocks using the new MUF name, and not have to create special jobs to change the names. The only files that will not be affected here are the CA 11 database files. I will talk about them in a moment.
To install the new MUF with the new names, you can follow the documentation starting with the section CA Datacom/AD Environment Configuration, down through the Installation Verification Phase. This involves running CAAXSAMP member AXCUS00 to create the INSTJCL PDS, and then running INSTJCL members AXCUSNEW, AXAPFADD, AXRIM01, AXNEW01, and AD15STRT, with AXIVP01 as an optional member to test the MUF.
Once that is done, your new MUF will be up and running on Version 15.1.
Now you have a decision to make about your CA 11 databases.
Once these jobs are complete, you will have installed CA Datacom/AD Version 15.1 using your new filenames and with all the necessary data loaded and ready. You only change the STEPLIB in the CA 11 STC, and you are ready to go.
As always, please contact Broadcom support for CA Datacom if you have further questions.
