What happens if the Maximum size of the Spam Quarantine is reached on the Messaging Gateway?

Environment

SMG 10.7.x

Cause

Need to understand effects of Spam>Settings>Quarantine Settings.

Resolution

The Maximum size of Quarantine settings refer to the quarantine expunger.

The true maximum of the quarantine is the /data partition.

The Expunger enforces the limits to clean up everything larger or older than the configured.

If the quarantine is actually full and expunger set to extreme values, then the /data partition would start to fill.

Each time the expunger runs the MTA halted, this means that default or close to default settings are best balance between availability of quarantine and message processing.
