Issue/Introduction

We recently changed the password for EEM's eiamadmin user. Now we cannot log into the ITPAM user interface and get errors in the c2o.log that look like the following:

ERROR Exception while trying to retrieve EEM user
com.optinuity.c2o.util.C2OException: EE_NOTALLOWED Operation not allowed

How do we reset the EiamAdmin user's password used by ITPAM?

Environment

Release : 4.3

Component : ITPAM

Resolution

To reset the EiamAdmin user password used by ITPAM, you will need to go through the installation process again. There are a few notable moments, noted below, during the installation process to help resolve this issue:

  • The installation will detect existing settings. Most of the prompts throughout the installation will not need to be changed.
  • When prompted for the "Destination directory", make sure it is pointing to the directory where ITPAM is currently installed (ex: C:\Program Files\CA\PAM).
  • Be sure to select "Configure existing installation" when prompted with "Do you want to Reinstall or configure existing Installations?"
  • In the screen for "Embedded Entitlements Manager (EEM) Security Settings screen:
    • Check the checkbox for "Register Application with CA EEM"
    • Click the "Register" button.
    • In the "Verify EEM settings", provide the eiamadmin username and it's current password.
    • Click "Okay" and click "Yes" when prompted with "Application already exists. Do you want to upgrade it?"
    • Give it a moment and wait for the dialog box showing the message "Upgrade not required." and then click the "OK" button.
    • Click the "Test EEM Settings" button.
    • When the "Verify EEM settings" window appears, this type provide the credentials that you typically use to log into the ITPAM user interface. This will typically return:
      • Connect = OK
      • User provided belongs to User Group = OK
      • User is an Admin - Yes
      • Click the "OK" button if the above results are given.
    • Click Next
    • In the "Additional Jars for Installation" window, check the checkbox for any jar files that are listed.
    • After the installation is complete, start the "CA Process Automation Orchestrator" service.
    • Wait for the service to start.
    • Verify that you can now log into the ITPAM user interface.

Additional Information

Please note:

  1. Any Cumulative or hotfix Patches will need to be reapplied after doing a reinstall to re-registering the EEM Application.=
  2. Clustered Nodes will need to be reinstalled after reapplying patches to node 2.  Settings will eventually be mirrored but there is a delay.  A reinstall will implement the changes immediately.
