Issue/Introduction

File Transfers on Linux and UNIX agents (Solaris, HP/UX, etc...) sometimes have one or more of the following symptoms:

1) zero-byte *.sts files are generated in the out directory of the agent

2) core-dump files are generated on the system

3) error-messages in the job Report of JOBF-objects:

eg . "Invalid 'open()' call, file name '/var/opt/automic/Agent/out/FTCMALPKF.sts'. Error code: ('13' - 'Permission denied')"

4) sporadically generate Core dumps and empty sts files (root owner) during file transfer.

Environment

Release : 12.2.x, 12.3.x

Component : AUTOMATION ENGINE

Cause

Code bug.

Resolution

Restarting the File Transfer task should work as a workaround most of the time.
If not, the .sts file can be deleted and the transfer restarted, or the owner for the .sts file can be updated to the user being used in jobf login object

Fixed in :

Linux/UNIX Agent 21.0.0  (available)

Linux/UNIX Agent 12.3.6 (available)

Linux/UNIX Agent 12.2.9 (available)
