Issue/Introduction

The CA Identity Manager (IM) is not able to push data downstream to the Endpoints.

Upon closer inspection, the Remote Connector Server (JCS - Java Connector Server, CCS - C++ Connector Server) services are running on the Windows Endpoint but the server appears as Unavailable in the vApp (Virtual Appliance Dashboard).  What is the cause of this issue?

Environment

Release : 14.x

Component : CA IDENTITY SUITE (VIRTUAL APPLIANCE)

Resolution

The most common cause of problems registering a Remote Connector Server with the vApp is connectivity related (Firewalls\ Networking issues).  The Knowledge article below covers that particular topic.

Other scenarios that can account for this beahvior are

(a) mismatched patch-sets.

It is important to ensure that the Endpoint is updated in line with the main application.  When a new Cumulative Patch set is released, ensure that you deploy the Remote Connector Server package that correlates with that patch set.

(b) Application corruption.

In some rare cases, the Remote Connector Server has become corrupted due to space issues or a system crash.  This issue is resolved by reinstalling Remote Connector Server package or restoring the faulting system to a functional state.
