Issue/Introduction

This article explains how to change the admin and enable the password on the serial console. 

Cause

in a situation where the user forgot the password and is unable to access the management GUI or CLI (SSH).

Resolution

Below are the steps to reset the password using the serial console access.

You will need to access the serial console or host console (if its virtual appliance) to perform this. If you've ever reset the enable password on ProxySG from the serial console, it is the same way. From the serial console, go through the setup wizard.

 

1. Press "2) Setup Console". It will then ask you what interface to configure. All the defaults should load, and so you can simply hit enter through this section.

 

2. The next section will ask about passwords. When it asks about changing the console and enable password, select yes.

Enter and verify your new enable password.

 

Proceed with the rest of the setup wizard. The only thing that should change is any configurations that you changed in the setup wizard.
