Issue/Introduction

 

Query on .NET WCF framework for SOAP API's.

Details from the documentation:

In this release, the WCF web services client-side nameformatter does not support {servicename}. In addition, the optional configuration steps for replacing {namespace} with {servicename} does not apply to the WCF web service metric configuration.

Is there any solution for this ?

Resolution

 

 

The newer DX APM 20.2 .NET Agent has included nameformatter implementation to attempt supporting the servicename substitution in the WCF metric names. It defaults to namespace handling in some conditions if not able to determine the servicename. 

The servicename substitution depends on the WCF implementation being monitored and the tracer being used in the instrumentation. 

Additional Information

 

If the expected servicename substitutions are not seen in WCF metrics with using the updated agent, please gather:

the Autoprobe logs 

agent DEBUG logs along with

details and/or screenshots of the expected servicename substitutions in the WCF metric names

 

and raise a case with Broadcom Support.
