Issue/Introduction

We have 4 Cisco 9800 WLC devices where I see in the WLC Manager only 1 with model type name SwCiscoIOS and type Catalyst 9800-40 WLC having its WAP devices discovered. For the other 3  I do not see them in the WLC Manager but the model type name GnSNSMPDev and the type Cisco 9800 WLC but NO WAP devices discovered.  How can I get the WAP devices discovered for these 3 Cisco 9800 models?

Environment

Release : 21.2

Component : Spectrum Alarm & Event Management

Cause

Cisco 9800 WLC is not certified in Spectrum

Resolution

This is not a supported device in Spectrum as of July 2021. Some customers choose to force the device into WLC manager while waiting for the certification. This is not a supported Spectrum method and we do not support it but you may use it if you wish.

Model the unsupported GnSNMPdev device as type SwCiscoIOS. It will then appear in WLC manager and populates  APs on discovery from the WLC manager.
