User is receiving an unexpected Rally welcome email

Issue/Introduction

User is receiving an unexpected welcome email even though a password has already been set and they have already logged into Rally.

Cause

It is possible that the email is being generated from another environment. For SaaS, this may mean the email is generated from the sandbox environment. For on-premise, this may mean that there is a QA or dev environment that is generating the emails.

The way to identify which environment this is coming from is to copy the address from the "Create Password" button in the email and paste it into a text editor to inspect the address.

Resolution

Set a password in the environment that the email is being generated from.
