Issue/Introduction

Looking a way to hold jobs in the queue and not let them print until and customer is in the office and want to release them to the printer.

Environment

Release : 14.0

Component : CA Spool

Resolution

A possible solution is to define the printer with ACQUIRE=NO,RELEASE=NOWORK.

With ACQUIRE=NO CA Spool won't start the printer automatically when a file is created as when ACQUIRE=WORK is set.

The user or operator has to manually issue the start command against the printer.

As RELEASE=NOWORK is set, the printer will go to DRAINED status after all queued files are printed. The printer will require another manual start command if more files are queued.

For example:

NODE    SAMPLPR,LPR,GROUP=1,
        TCPHOST=ccccccccccc,ACQUIRE=NO,RELEASE=NOWORK
