NS Console does not open: HTTP Error 503. The service is not available

Issue/Introduction

NS console not opening

Error: HTTP Error 503. The service is not available 

After restarting the IIS, error was changed to: HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found.

Cause

 

• Check the Altiris services and make sure all are running.
• Check http:\\localhost. If that is not loading as well, it means the issue is with IIS and App Pools and not just the IIS. (Like this case)
• In this case, McAfee was blocking NS and IIS. Rebooting the server resolved the issue

Resolution

• Disable McAfee
• Reboot the Notification Server.
• Optional: Enable McAfee again.
