Issue/Introduction

How to create a test Exact Match Data Identifier with remote indexer.

Environment

15.5 and above.

Cause

Complete steps to setup and use the remote indexer for EMDI.

Resolution

Extract the Symantec_DLP_15.5_Platform_Win-IN_15.5.0.17018.zip to c:\temp on the server you want to use for the remote indexer. This server cannot be a DLP server.

 

Navigate to C:\temp\Symantec_DLP_15.5_Platform_Win-IN_15.5.0.17018\DLP\15.5\New_Installs\x64\Release then double click on ServerJRE to install java.

Click next.

Check the box for I accept the terms in the License Agreement then click next.

Click next.

Click Install.

Click finish.

Navigate to C:\temp\Symantec_DLP_15.5_Platform_Win-IN_15.5.0.17018\DLP\15.5\New_Installs\x64\Release then double click on Indexers to install the indexer.

Click next.

Check the box for I accept the terms in the License Agreement then click next.

Click next.

Click next.

Click next.

Click install.

Click finish

Browse to https://dlptest.com/

Navigate to Sample Data Name/SSN/DOB.

Download and save the Sample SSN and CCN file called CSV file.

Enter the name you want for the EMDI Profile. Upload the test file you got from dlptest.com. Check the box for Read first row as column names. Select comma (,) from the drop down then click next.

Select at least 1 required field for a Data Identifier then click finish.

Download your EMDI profile to where you have your index saved to on your remote indexer.

Navigate to your server you have installed the remote indexer. Open a command prompt as administrator. Run the command: cd C:\Program Files\Symantec\DataLossPrevention\Indexers\15.5\Protect\bin

Run command: RemoteEMDIIndexer –data=Location of your index file –profile=Location of your EMDI profile –result=Location you want to save your index.
