Updating the ITAM Model, Family, Class

Issue/Introduction

Planning to make some changes to our data in CMDB.  As part of that change we will need to modify some models, families, and classes.  Is the only way to do this through the Asset Model Change routine through ITAM, or can the model be changed through the Data Importer.  The data importer would be easier for us as the changes will be documented in Excel format.

Resolution

The only method to change the Asset Model is through the "Change Asset Model" utility described here:

Using the Data Importer would be no different than using the Web UI to alter the Asset Model, which cannot be done as the Model field is a read-only field and similarly rejects any such model changes.
